Since his debut as a lone minstrel ukulele man with "Beautiful Eyes" on Towers of New London volume 3 to the full band treatments of The Weird Beards featuring addtional guitar bass drums and horns, Brian Skidmore has plowed the path less taken with a wild and wonderfully unique penchant for catchy tunes and weirdly unnerving (while pleasantly satisfying) lyric madness. The Weird Beards have over the last few years become a force to be reckoned drawing from jam band tastiness and Tiny Tim meets Frank Zappa weirdness to create a rollicking and rocking live spectacle. The band is working on a batch of new songs for release in 2010 and we're all looking forward to it!
"New London's answer to The Fugs -- the Weird Beards" ~ Stephen Chupaska , theday.com
"This booking wins, by a whisker...The Weird Beards we've seen, and they are weird: a singular mix of baritone uke and Queen-style rock falsetto, stand-up bass and jam-band guitar" ~ Christopher Arnott, New Haven Advocate
"The Beards are completely unique, featuring non-traditional instruments, non-traditional lyrics and non-traditional song styles" ~ Tim Malcolm, Norwich Bulletin
